Christian Vande Velde earned his Tour de France ticket at the expense of Paris-Roubaix champion Fabian Cancellara when Team CSC manager Bjarne Riis made a last-minute decision to switch Cancellara for Vande Velde ahead of Monday's announcement of the nine-man Tour squad.
